Even MFDs without social media accounts must submit declaration: AMFI

The Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) has clarified that mutual fund distributors (MFDs) who do not use social media are still required to file a declaration with the industry body.
For such distributors, AMFI has instructed that they should choose the ‘Not Applicable’ option when updating their social media information on its portal.
In its message to distributors, AMFI stated that maintaining and publishing complete and accurate social media information is mandated by SEBI. It has asked distributors to review their profiles and promptly fill in or update the required details to remain compliant. Distributors who do not have any social media accounts must indicate this by selecting ‘Not Applicable’ while updating their details.
AMFI has emphasized that MFDs should treat this requirement as important and complete the process within the specified deadline.
As per SEBI’s guidelines, AMFI must keep precise records of the official social media handles of MFDs. To meet this obligation, AMFI has requested distributors to provide their social media details through its online portal.
This disclosure is especially significant for distributors who use social media to post content related to capital markets or their professional activities. Such MFDs are required to update their social media information with AMFI.
SEBI has further clarified that any securities-market-related content shared via videos, posts or other formats on social media platforms—including closed or private groups—comes under these disclosure requirements.
To update their social media details, MFDs need to log in to the ARN Registration and Renewal section on the AMFI website and follow this path:
AMFI website → Distributor Corner → Online Registration & Renewal of ARN & EUIN → Post Login → Social Media Details.
Distributors should review their social media presence and check whether they currently share or plan to share content related to capital markets or their professional work. Those who maintain such accounts must provide the relevant details, while those without any social media accounts should select the ‘Not Applicable’ option to complete the declaration process.
